Clover trotted through the woods, his paws beating on the undergrowth below. It was getting warmer, the sun higher, and even under the coverage of the tall, towering trees, the long-furred tom couldn't help but go to the pool. He was thinking about a short swim in the coolness of the calm, shaded water, letting himself relax before maybe going out to catch some prey. It was one of his favourite places, the pool provided everything that he needed. The Patrian often found himself catching fish quite easily at the pool too. When hunting out in the forest, he always came back frustrated, having tracked down prey, but then having it scurry away from him, spotting his long, very obvious out of place white fur in the earthy-coloured forest.
As the tom drew closer and closer, he could smell the crisp, damp air of the pool. He padded faster now, his long coat flowing behind him. Peeking through the vegetation, Clover would see the glistening sparkle of the Shimmering Pool. Grinning, he padded down and took a great leap into the air, before splashing into the water. The young tomcat floated the surface, laughing, his fur catching the air and keeping him warm. He paddled up to a shallow bank of the pool, the water covering his paws. There Clover sat, before he started licking his fur, starting at one of his shoulders and making his way down the side of his coat.
Just as Clover got into his 'grooming rhythm', a splash from the pool caught his attention. He instantly stood up, scanning the pool. A dark bird had landed beside the water, but quickly took off as soon as he spotted it. Clover paused, then noticed a silver coloured fish, darting just above the surface. The Patrian instantly crouched low, his belly touching the water. He knew he would find some nice prey here! Now it was just a matter of if it was going to swim away or not. The tomcat moved slowly, careful not to make a single sound. Colver pounced, his legs pushing him off into the air, before landing right onto the fish. He quickly clamped his jaws around the prey, and scurried to the bank of the Shimmering Pool. He purred, happy with his catch.
