She sat, staring out at the beauty of the parched landscape she called home. The sun fell down behind the horizon, spilling colours of purple and orange into the dark blue sky before it would eventually disappear altogether. Small, twinking stars emerged one by one as the sky grew darker and the air grew cooler.
The molly sighed, feeling the crisp breeze touch her fur. She knew with confidence that this was where she belonged. Many times Nova had thought of joining the other colonies, envying their lush prey filled forest, but she reminded herself that cats there were soft, weak, and everything she didn't want to be. Nova was never one to doubt her beliefs, and if anyone were there to question her that the other colonies weren't weaker, she would fight back. Her eyes showed a rare hint of tranquillity along with the same passionate fury Nova always had as she continued to gaze out.
After her pleasant albeit brief exchange with the Patrian tomcat, Morgan had opted to venture further into Sororian lands. The sun was beginning to sink in the sky now, the horizon partially shielding her from its relentless glare and over time the stifling temperature became considerably more bearable, enabling the molly to pick up the laborious dragging pace of her paws into a rejuvenated trot. She hummed a peppy tune to herself as she bounded from boulder to bush, up and over barren hills of craggy earth, although it was when she reached the summit of yet another one of these inclines that she found round eyes falling upon a silhouette.
It appeared to be a bulky she-cat coated with pale, fluffy fur, gazing out over the setting sun with an apparent air of tranquility. What was with all these cats in Soror and their long pelts? Surely it was unbearable in these conditions! Still, the calico brushed it off in favour of inquisitively cocking her head towards her as of yet unbeknownst companion, an impish smile edging onto her lips as she twirled her tail before carefully beginning to creep towards her, ensuring as best she could that her pads made no noise to alert the Sororian to her presence as she slowly drew up behind her. She stopped once she stood behind her, and leaning in closer to her ear, greeted in a soft purr, "Boo."
Nova jumped, turning around onto all four of her paws, drawing her lips back to reveal her set of razor-sharp teeth. She hissed, batting the cat in the face a couple of times with her paws. Although not with her claws out, of course. Just to let them know it wasn't nice to sneak up behind other cats, whether she knew them or not.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" Nova meowed, her muzzle wrinkling in displeasure. "You know I hate it when people do stuff like that!" Nova squinted at the slim molly. Wait... she didn't know this cat... and this cat certainly didn't know her. Her pelt bristled. "Are you even from Soror? What on earth are you doing here? If you want to hunt here, go somewhere else. Becuase unless you're part of Soror, you wouldn't have any idea how to even catch a beetle here, let along anything worth eating!" Nova sat down, flicking her tail at the stranger, an aloof expression on her face.
Morgan's features ignited with glee the instant the she-cat startled in alarm, laughter immediately bubbling from her lips as she reared away, feebly shielding herself from the displeased battering through bouts of giggles as bright olive eyes found the ticked off tortoiseshell once more. She grinned back at her, tail coiling and thrashing behind her in delight with the success of her own antics as she watched the Sororian do a double-take in apparent confusion to this stranger's presence, paying no heed to her scolding as she hopped back to her paws and snickered.
"Oh my gosh, you should have like-- Totally seen your face. And I thought your pelt was fluffy before, but then-- Then it puffed out--! It's adorable!" she cooed, hopping back and forth on nimble paws as some kind of outlet for her apparently unbridled vivacity, rolling her eyes in acknowledgement to her question as she bounced onto a boulder for a better vantage point to gaze about her surroundings, apparently scouring for her next destination. "No, I'm not part of one of your silly colonies, you dork! I'm, like, a free spirit! I wouldn't be able to stand being confined to one kind of territory. And not that your home here isn't totes pretty and all, but I don't understand how cats with such long fur can stand living here in such crazy conditions! The heat was suffocating today, I nearly fainted like, five times!"
Nova watched the molly as she laughed and snickered, bouncing on a rock. As much as she wanted to be frustrated with her, possibly for calling her 'adorable' or telling her colony cats didn't have 'free spirits'. Nova couldn't help but giggle herself. She quickly stifled her laughter, biting her lip, not wanting to show how influenced she could really be.
Taking a long, deep breath, Nova spoke. "Okay, first of all I have you know I'm adopted and my birth parents didn't even live here and my fur just happened to be long and I can't just get up and leave and then die because I don't even know how to hunt in a forest. And second of all... YEA I KNOW RIGHT?" Her ears perked up, enlivened. She tugged her neck fur with a claw. "I mean, finally, someone understands! I honestly don't know why I even live here! I mean it's always so hot and I'm always tired and sweating sooo much. It's exhausting! But then again, it is really beautiful and amazing here and I would never want to live anywhere else," The molly mewed, gazing out for a brief moment before turning back to face the stranger. "So I always like... come out a lot at really early in the morning really late at night as much as I can so I'm not drenched in sweat!"
Morgan's attention was raptured by the surrounding environment, olive eyes scouring for something new and remotely interesting for her to investigate although she quirked an ear in the general direction of the she-cat to indicate she was indeed still paying attention when she began to speak. The calico's smile failed to falter; if anything it broadened joyfully as the she-cat had to steady herself with a sigh, apparently mildly exasperated with the outsider's unbridled enthusiasm paired with her total lack of a filter when it came to spilling monologues. Most cats found her exhausting to keep up with, but that was their problem!
But then the next thing she knew it was as if a switch had been flipped in the Sororian as suddenly she was piquing up and bumbling into a monologue, having adopted an ecstatic tone so similar to her own that caught the wanderer's attention enough to coax her straying stare from the barren territory to land back on her with a startled blink. And then as she continued Morgan's grin etched a little further, eyes glittering as she swished her tail in delight to the mirrored elation of her new companion as she snickered and hopped off her vantage rock, plumping herself down onto her rump and lifting a paw to her muzzle to rasp her tongue over it and draw it over her ears in a few quick strokes as she listened. "Yeah, I guess this place is kind of awesome, though it's a little too barren for my tastes. I totally prefer Viridian lands, they're like, totes gorgeous! There's forests and fields and trees to climb and all these adorable kinds of flowers!" she mused, gaze drifting back towards the she-cat with a peppy grin, tail swishing restlessly back and forth behind her all the while. She blinked curiously, head cocked. "So like... If your parents weren't from here, how'd you end up with the Sororian bunch? No offense, but they hardly have the prettiest of scenery, and aren't conditions here like... Kinda harsh?"
