Festivals

There are four festivals on Paracosm, one for each season. All of them have a colony that hosts a specific festival, and they all include different tasks, opportunities, and rewards.

The Festival of Rebirth is the first festival of the new year, taking place midway through Spring. Cats of all colonies bring food and gather together for a feast. All cats are welcome to sing, dance, play, and enjoy the good weather. Cats of all ages are welcome, though only colony cats may be in attendance. They celebrate new births, having survived the harsh Winter, and the life that awaits them in the new year.

The Festival of Love is a beautiful day of fun in the sun at the beach. It’s a traditional Patrian event in which cats from all colonies come together beside the sparkling waters to court. They share prey, stories, groom one another, and walk the shores with a partner of choice. Common ways that cats prepare include a thorough grooming, decorating one’s fur, rolling in flowers, and cleaning the teeth with bones. Both colony cats and outsiders are welcome. Many mates attend this festival to renew their faith to one another. Queens bring their families to exchange parenting tips with mothers and fathers from other colonies and catch up with old friends.

The Festival of Tournaments takes place in Autumn in Soror’s Quarters. It is a festival that was created by Roisin to celebrate strength and virility, as well as celebrate the bond between the three colonies. Young cats from all three travel to Soror’s homeland to take part in contests that compliment their strengths the most, and there are a plethora of contests to choose from. It’s an event that lasts all day, but the evening is reserved for prizes for winners and prey brought from the other colonies to share. Bets will be made and contests will be won throughout the day by the colony cats, but no outsiders are allowed at this festival, as it was made for the colonies to gather in a friendly, competitive atmosphere.

The Night of the Endless Moon is sacred event is held by and for Viridians only in the center of their territory. On the longest night of the year in the dead of Winter, they gather to honor the forest goddess, Eden. They pray to her in hope that she will grant them a prosperous new year. Cats share tongues and reminisce over the events of the past year while dreaming of the year to come. They honor those who didn’t make it to see this day and visit their graves, leaving flowers. On this night, all cats of Viridity will sleep together as one.
