Each season had its ups and downs, but Summer had to be by far Ann's favorite. Herbs and prey were plentiful, cats got along more easily, weather was fair, and life was simple. She didn't have to spend all day in a tizzy over herbs and appointments and could actually take time to relax on her own. It wasn't something she was exactly used to. Ann was a social cat by nature. She'd spent all her life with others, whether she was just with her brother, traveling with her troupe of friends, or living as a Viridian. Her free time had always been spent with others. So having hours unoccupied to herself thanks to the good weather gave her plenty of time to think.
She laid on top of the hollow log she called home now, short forelegs dangling down over the entrance. Sunlight warmed her dappled fur and her eyes were closed contentedly. She was thinking that she had ought to take on an understudy or two. She wasn't the youngest cat in Viridity, and while she wasn't the oldest, it would still be useful to start training the future shrink of Viridity sooner rather than later. But who to pick? It wasn't as if the choice was easy. Her training had come about for reasons that wouldn't be present in this setting. Perhaps she had ought to talk to Dusk about it.
Ann rolled onto her back and parted her jaws in a yawn. She had time. There was no rush. She could simply enjoy the day and sun herself until her next appointment.
